## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON JULY 24, 2013, A RATED US ARMY AVIATOR ACTING AS PIC OF A PILATUS PORTER(UV-20)#23254 ABORTED HIS TAKEOFF ON RUNWAY 9 AT HIATT AIRPORT, A GRASS STRIP NEAR THOMASVILLE, NC. HE IMPACTED TREES OFF THE END OF THE RUNWAY. HE WAS NOT INJURED. THE PILOT STATED THAT THERE WAS A SUDDEN REDUCTION OF POWER ON THE TAKEOFF ROLL AND HE ELECTED TO ABORT RATHER THAN CONTINUE THE TAKEOFF. HE WAS UNABLE TO STOP THE AIRCRAFT BEFORE IT IMPACTED THE BARRIER OF TREES AT THE END OF THE RUNWAY.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
