WHILE ENROUTE FROM MAMMOTH, CA TO CORONA, CA THE PILOT LANDED AT LONE PINE, CA TO WAIT FOR THUNDERSTORMS ALONG THE INTENDED ROUTE TO DISAPATE. THE AIRCRAFT WAS PARKED IN THE RAIN FOR APPROXIMATELY 1.5 HOURS.

AFTER THE STORMS HAD CLEARED THE 3 PASSENGERS AND PILOT DEPARTED LONE PINE TO CONTINUE THE FLIGHT. THE PILOT STATED THAT HE DEPARTED RUNWAY 16 AND SUBSEQUENTLY EXPERIENCED A LOSS OF ENGINE POWER. THE AIRCRAFT LANDED GEAR UP IN THE DESERT AREA APPROXIMATLY 1/2 MILE SOUTH OF THE AIRPORT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)
