## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT WAS TREATING A FIELD NEAR EAGLE LAKE, MN. FIELD WAS BEING TREATED NORTH TO SOUTH. ON THE 4TH PASS, THE PILOT REPORTED THAT HE PULLED UP TO FINISH THE PASS AND NOTICED THAT HE WAS GETTING TOO CLOSE TO TREES ON THE SOUTH EDGE OF FIELD. HE APPLIED FULL POWER AND ATTEMPTED TO PULL UP TO MISS TREES. THE PILOT REPORTED THAT HE CLIPPED THE TOP 6 FEET OF ONE OF THE TREES. THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO THE RIGHT UPPER AND LOWER WINGS AND AILERON, HOWEVER THE PILOT WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN ENOUGH CONTROL OF THE AIRCRAFT TO FLY TO AND LAND AT MKT, THE NEAREST AIRPORT, ABOUT 5 MILES FROM WHERE HE STRUCK THE TREE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN13LA444](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN13LA444), Jul 29, 2013: Eagle DW-1 (N8803Z), Eagle Lake, MN, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's misjudgment of tree heights, which resulted in the collision with a tree.

## Other reports on N8803Z (1)

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
