## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT WITH ONE PASSENGER PLANNED A LOCAL FLIGHT USING RUNWAY 35 AT ABOUT 1350 LOCAL. THE WEATHER WAS CLEAR WITH LIGHT WINDS VARIABLE OUT OF THE EAST.

THE PILOT ABORTED THE TAKEOFF ON RUNWAY 35 AND LOST DIRECTIONAL CONTROL OVERTURNING IN A FIELD ADJACENT TO RUNWAY. DURING THE TAKEOFF ROLL THE AIRCRAFT DRIFTED LEFT OF THE GRAVEL RUNWAY SURFACE ONTO AN ADJACENT TURF RUNWAY SURFACE. THE PILOT AFTER DRIFTING WEST OF THE GRAVEL RUNWAY OVERCORRECTED AND THE AIRCRAFT TRAVELED IN AN ARC, ACROSS THE GRAVEL RUNWAY, IN A NORTHEAST DIRECTION, THROUGH A DITCH AND OVERTURNED IN A MILO FIELD. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO A STOP 10 FEET EAST OF THE RUNWAY AND ABOUT 75 FEET SHORT OF THE DEPARTURE END.

THE AIRCRAFT RECEIVED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE FUSELAGE. NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN13CA453](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN13CA453), Jul 31, 2013: Luscombe 8A (N45957), Ellinwood, KS, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot failed to maintain directional control during takeoff.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
