## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AIRCRAFT TOOK OFF FROM LIVERMORE, CA. AND AT CRUISE OF 4500', ENGINE BEGAN LOSING POWER, RPM DROPPED, PILOT PLACED FUEL CONTROL TO FULL RICH AND THROTTLED BACK, THEN PROGRAMMED GPS FOR BYRON AIRPORT BUT DID NOT HAVE ENOUGH ALTITUDE TO MAKE THAT AIRPORT.

PILOT DECIDED TO PERFORMED EMERGENCY LANDING ON DIRT ROADS NEXT TO CORN FIELD, BUT THEN NOTICED POWERLINES, MADE 180 DEGREE TURN AND COULD NOT GET AIRCRAFT LINED UP WITH DIRT ROAD.

AIRCRAFT TOUCHED DOWN ON DIRT ROAD AND BOUNCED INTO CORN FIELD. AIRCRAFT DESTROYED AND PILOT WAS ABLE TO WALK AWAY WITH BRUISED RIGHT KNEE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR13LA353](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR13LA353), Aug 1, 2013: Weber GPA-2 (N199BW), Brentwood, CA, substantial damage. Probable cause: A loss of engine power for reasons that could not be determined because postaccident examination did not reveal any anomalies that would have precluded normal operation.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
