## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT OF N804LA, A BELL-206 HELICOPTER HAD JUST DEPARTED A PRIVATE BUSINESS LOCATION IN ALBERS, ILLINOIS, TO A LOCATION NEAR PEVELY, MISSOURI. HE HAD LEVELED THE AIRCRAFT AT APPROXIMATELY 600 FEET ABOVE GROUND LEVEL AND WAS AT A SPEED OF 60 KNOTS WHEN HE NOTICED A DECAY IN ENGINE RPM. THE PILOT ELECTED TO MAKE AN OFF AIRPORT LANDING AND CONDUCTED AN AUTOROTATION MANEUVER INTO A CORN FIELD. AS THE AIRCRAFT CONTACTED THE SURFACE OF THE FIELD IT ROLLED OVER ONTO THE LEFT SIDE WHICH RESULTED IN SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT. NO INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED TO THE PILOT OR HIS TWO PASSENGERS AS A RESULT OF THIS EVENT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN13LA487](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN13LA487), Aug 10, 2013: Bell 206B (N804LA), Albers, IL, substantial damage. Probable cause: Fuel contamination, which resulted in the loss of engine power.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
