## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AIRCRAFT CONDUCTED A TAKE OFF ON RUNWAY 01 AND CLIMBED TO APPROXIMATELY 200 ABOVE GROUND LEVEL. APPROXIMATELY THREE QUARTERS DOWN THE RUNWAY PILOT NOTICED ENGINE WAS NOT PRODUCING CLIMB POWER AND MADE THE DECISION TO RETURN BACK TO THE AIRPORT. HE STARTED TO TURN FOR RIGHT CROSS WIND. AT THIS POINT, ENGINE LOST POWER AND AIRPLANE IMPACTED A GROUP OF TREES APPROXIMATELY 800 FEET NORTH EAST OF DEPARTURE END OF THE RUNWAY.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN13LA478](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN13LA478), Aug 10, 2013: Douglas Brian G BA-100 (N27BD), Killeen, TX, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s improper management of the fuel mixture, which resulted in an over-rich fuel mixture condition and a subsequent partial loss of engine power.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
