## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AIRMAN TAXIES AIRCRAFT FOR DEPARTURE (AT UNIMPROVED AIRPORT), AND IN SO DOING TRIES TO AVOID VERTICAL STANDING RUNWAY EDGE MARKERS, HOLES IN THE RUNWAY, AND A WINDSOCK POLE, ALL IN SAME AREA. IN AN EFFORT TO REMAIN CLEAR OF ALL THE OBSTACLES AND HOLES IN THE RUNWAY, THE AIRMAN INADVERTENTLY STRIKES THE WINDSOCK POLE WITH THE AIRCRAFT WING, RESULTING IN SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR13CA371](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR13CA371), Aug 14, 2013: Cessna 172H (N8160L), Metaline Falls, WA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain clearance from a windsock pole while taxiing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
