## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT SMELLED FUEL FUMES 5 SOUTH OF AIRPORT. FUMES GOT STRONGER AS HE GOT CLOSER. UPON LANDING AND ROLLOUT PILOT DEPARTED THE AIRCRAFT WHILE IT WAS STILL ROLLING. AFTER AIRCRAFT CAME TO A STOP FIRE ERUPTED AND INCREASED IN INTENSITY. AIRCRAFT WAS DESTROYED IN THE FIRE THAT ORIGINATED FORWARD OF THE FIREWALL.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN13LA490](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN13LA490), Aug 14, 2013: Taylorcraft BC12-D1 (N44351), Eastport, MI, destroyed. Probable cause: A fuel leak in the engine compartment and subsequent fire, the source of which could not be determined because of extensive postaccident fire damage.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
