## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AS THE AIRCRAFT TOUCHED DOWN AT THE ALASKA ADVENTURES LODGE RUNWAY LOCATED APPROXIMANTLY 16 MILES SOUTH OF SLEETMUTE, ALASKA, THE PILOT REPORTED EVERYTHING NORMAL UNTIL THE TAIL WHEEL TOUCHED THE GROUND AT WHICH TIME THE AIRCRAFT BEGAN TO VEER TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE RUNWAY. THE PILOT ATTEMPTED TO CORRECT THE SITUATION WITH LEFT BRAKE APPLICATION BUT REPORTED THAT HE FELT NO BRAKING ACTION AND THE AIRCRAFT CONTINUED TO VEER TO THE RIGHT UNTIL STOPPING APPROXIMANTLY 15 FEET FROM THE RIGHT EDGE OF THE RUNWAY.

INITIAL INSPECTION OF THE AIRCRAFT BY THE PILOTED APPEARED TO BE LIMITED TO A BROKEN STABILATOR TRIM JACK SCREW MOUNTING POINT AND DAMAGE TO THE LEFT WING OUTBOARD OF THE WING SPAR.

THE PILOT BELIEVES THE TAIL WHEEL WAS SLIGHTLY COCKED AND CAUSED THE AIRCRAFT TO START A GROUND LOOP. HE ALSO BELIEVES RUNWAY CONDITIONS, ALONG WITH MINIMAL BRAKING AND PILOT COMPLACENCY CAUSED THE ACCIDENT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ANC13CA082](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ANC13CA082), Aug 16, 2013: Cessna 185 (N185SN), Sleetmute, AK, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain directional control during landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
