## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

DURING LANDING ROLLOUT AT A PRIVATE, NON-CERTIFICATED AIRPORT, WITH APPROXIMATELY 8 KNOTS OF CROSSWIND FROM THE RIGHT, THE RIGHT RUDDER/TAILWHEEL STEERING CABLE FAILED, CAUSING THE AIRPLANE TO VEER INTO AN ADJACENT FIELD OF TALL CORN.

INVESTIGATION REVEALED THAT A 2 INCH SECTION OF THE RIGHT RUDDER CABLE WAS CORRODED, AND FAILED WHERE IT PASSED OVER A PULLEY BEHIND THE RIGHT FRONT FRONT SEAT.

THE ADJACENT CARPET SHOWED SIGNS OF CONTACT WITH THE CABLE AND PREVIOUS MOISTURE DAMAGE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
