## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE AIRCRAFT DEPARTED RUNWAY 21 AT NICOLET, WI AIRPORT (88WI). AT APPROXIMATELY 200 FEET DURING INITIAL CLIMB, THE ENGINE FAILED. THE PILOT SUBSEQUENTLY MADE A FORCED LANDING IN TALL GRASS APPROXIMATELY 1 MILE SOUTHWEST OF THE AIRPORT. THE PILOT HAD MINOR LACERATIONS TO THE FACE AND THE AIRCRAFT WAS DESTROYED.

THE PILOT STATED THAT HE HAD RECENTLY INSTALLED A NEW ENGINE ON THE AIRCRAFT AND HAD COMPLETED A SERIES OF GROUND TEST RUNS OF APPROXIMATELY 1.5 HOURS DURATION. NO MECHANICAL ANOMALIES WERE NOTED DURING THE GROUND RUNS. THE ACCIDENT OCCURRED DURING THE FIRST FLIGHT AFTER THE GROUND TEST RUNS WERE COMPLETED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN13LA502](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN13LA502), Aug 24, 2013: Anderas Tiger Moth R80 (N927TM), New Franken, WI, substantial damage. Probable cause: The loss of engine power during initial climb for reasons that could not be determined because postaccident examination did not reveal any anomalies that would have precluded normal operation.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
