## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

WHILE PERFORMING TOUCH AND GO LANDINGS AT SKAGIT REGIONAL AIRPORT THE PILOT WAS ON HIS SECOND TOUCH AND GO WHEN HE FLARED TOO HIGH ABOVE THE RUNWAY. HIS ATTEMPTS TO CORRECT THE SITUATION BEGAN CAUSING THE AIRCRAFT TO PORPOISE. HE ADDED POWER ATTEMPTING A GO AROUND WHEN THE AIRCRAFT CONTINUED TO SINK IN A NOSE DOWN ATTITUDE STRIKING THE RUNWAY CAUSING THE NOSE GEAR TO BEND REARWARDS UNDERNEATH THE FORWARD BELLY SECTION OF THE FUSELAGE. THE PROPELLER STRUCK THE RUNWAY, SHATTERING IT. THE THE PILOT EXITED THE AIRCRAFT ONCE IT STOPPED HE NOTED A STRONG FUEL SMELL AND LATER OBSERVED FUEL LEAKING FROM THE BELLY AREA JUST BEHIND THE FIREWALL. THE PILOT SUSTAINED NO INJURIES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR13CA387](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR13CA387), Aug 24, 2013: TL Ultralight Stingsport (N9494), Burlington, WA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's improper flare and unsuccessful attempt to correct a bounced landing, which resulted in a nose gear collapse

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
