## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AS REPORTED BY PILOT, RIGHT AFTER ROTATION HE REALIZED THAT HIS RATE OF CLIMB WAS ONLY 500 FPM, INSTEAD OF THE EXPECTED 1600. THE ENGINE STARTED POPPING AND BACKFIRING, AND THE PILOT ELECTED TO RETURN TO THE AIRPORT, BUT UPON REALIZING THAT HE WOULD BE UNABLE TO REACH THE AIRPORT, HE DECIDED TO LAND IN A PASTURE ABOUT ONE MILE SHORT OF THE RUNWAY. AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED MINOR DAMAGE, DUE TO COLLISION WITH AN ELECTRIC FENCE, WHICH CAUSED THE AIRCRAFT TO NOSE OVER, NO INJURIES.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
