## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON 8/30/2013, APPROX. 1415 HOURS, N8823C, PIPER PA- 28 WHILE TAXIING AFTER LANDING THE MOTOR STOPPED AT THE INTERSECTION OF RUNWAY 02 AND RUNWAY 33 AT BARNES MUNICIPAL AIRPORT (BAF) WESTFIELD, MA. 01085. UPON 6 TRIES TO RESTART THE ENGINE IT COUGHED OUT FLAMES AND THEN STARTED TO BURN WITHIN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. AT THIS TIME THE PIC AND PASSENGER DEPARTED THE AIRCRAFT WITH NO INJURIES. AIRPORT FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS COINCIDENTLY WITHIN THE IMMEDIATE AREA CONDUCTING TRAINING AND RESPONDED AND QUICKLY EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
