THE AIRCRAFT DEPARTED IAH FOR MOBILE REGIONAL AIRPORT (MOB) IN MOBILE, AL. AFTER DEPARTURE THE CREW HEARD A LOUD BANG FROM THE LEFT LATERAL SIDE PANEL OF THE COCKPIT. THE CAPTAIN REPORTED SEEING FAINT SMOKE AND THE SMELL OF ELECTRICAL SMOKE. THE CAPTAIN AND THE FIRST OFFICER SAID THEY FELT A SHUDDER FROM THE INCIDENT. AN EMERGENCY WAS DECLARED AND THE CREW DIVERTED TO BPT (BEAUMONT, TX). THE AIRCRAFT LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT. THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT AND NO INJURIES TO THE PASSENGERS OR CREW.
