## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT ATTEMPTED AN APPROACH AND NORMAL LANDING TO RUNWAY 27R, WHICH IS A TURF RUNWAY PARALLEL TO THE ASPHALT RUNWAY (27L). THE TURF RUNWAY IS NORTH OF THE ASPHALT RUNWAY AND HAS A PAVED TAXIWAY AT MIDFIELD, PERPENDICULAR TO THE RUNWAY, AND ALSO CROSSES THE TURF RUNWAY AT MIDFIELD. WITNESSES STATED THAT THE AIRCRAFT APPEARED TO BE FASTER THAN NORMAL WHILE ON THE APPROACH. THE AIRCRAFT TOUCHED DOWN LONG ON THE TURF RUNWAY. DURING THE LANDING ROLLOUT THE PILOT STATED HE NOTICED A DEPRESSION IN THE RUNWAY SURFACE AND INITIATED BACK PRESSURE ON THE CONTROL WHEEL TO ELEVATE THE NOSE GEAR. THERE WAS INSUFFICIENT CONTROL EFFECTIVENESS DUE TO THE SLOWING OF THE AIRCRAFT AND THE NOSE WHEEL IMPACTED THE THE DEPRESSION AND CAUSED THE AIRCRAFT TO RAPIDLY DECELERATE UPON CONTACT WITH THE PAVED PORTION OF THE THE TAXIWAY EDGE, AND FLIP OVER, IN A TAIL TO NOSE DIRECTION. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST ACROSS THE PERPENDICULAR TAXIWAY. BOTH OCCUPANTS WERE UNINJURED AND WERE ASSISTED OUT OF THE AIRCRAFT BY PERSONNEL AT THE AIRPORT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR13CA394](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR13CA394), Aug 31, 2013: Henderson Michael E Glastar (N789MH), Sequim, WA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's improper soft field landing technique, and failure to maintain aircraft control during the landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
