## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON AUGUST 31, 2013, AT 0825 AM CDT, AERONCA 7EC, N4348C, WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT AT THE PLATTSMOUTH MUNICIPAL AIRPORT, PLATTSMOUTH, NEBRASKA. THE PILOT IN COMMAND (PIC) WAS SEATED IN THE REAR SEAT WITH THE OTHER PILOT SEATED IN THE FRONT SEAT. THE PIC IS A CERTIFIED FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR AND WAS PROVIDING FLIGHT INSTRUCTION TO THE SECOND PILOT, WHO WAS NOT QUALIFIED TO FLY AN AIRCRAFT WITH A CONVENTIONAL LANDING GEAR. THE PIC AND THE SECOND PILOT DEPARTED RUNWAY 16 WITH BOTH PILOTS MANIPULATING THE FLIGHT CONTROLS. DURING LIFTOFF, THE PIC LOST DIRECTIONAL CONTROL OF THE AIRCRAFT AND ALLOWED THE AIRCRAFT TO ABRUPTLY YAW TO THE RIGHT. THE AIRCRAFT CROSSED THE WEST EDGE OF THE RUNWAY AT AN ALTITUDE OF A FEW FEET, STILL IN GROUND EFFECT. THE RIGHT WING DROPPED AND IMPACTED THE GROUND CAUSING THE RIGHT MAIN GEAR TO COLLASPE. THE PROPELLER STRUCK THE GROUND CAUSING THE ENGINE TO STOP. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST IN A NORTHERLY DIRECTION AND RECEIVED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE. BOTH PILOTS WERE UNINJURIED AND NO PERSONS WERE HARMED ON THE GROUND. OTHER THAN THE AIRCRAFT, THERE WAS NO OTHER PROPERTY DAMAGE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN13CA530](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN13CA530), Aug 31, 2013: Aeronca 7EC (N4348C), Plattsmouth, NE, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's loss of control during takeoff.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
