## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AIRMAN WAS DETERMINING THE LENGTH OF A GRAVEL BAR BY DOING A LOW PASS OVER THE SURFACE. DURING THE SECOND LOW PASS HE DECIDED TO GO AHEAD AND LAND PART WAY THROUGH THE LOW PASS. HE WAS TOO FAST AND LONG ON THE LANDING WHICH MADE HIM GO TO THE FAR END OF THE GRAVEL BAR WHERE THE AIRCRAFT CONTACTED THE WATER, CAME TO A STOP AND THEN FLIPPED OVER ON ITS NOSE AND ENDED UP UPSIDE DOWN IN THE WATER.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
