## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 7, 2013 AT APPROXIMATELY 1800 ALASKA LOCAL TIME AT MONTANA CREEK AIRCRAFT N4483Z, PA18 CRASHED ON LANDING ON LAND AND CAME TO REST, SUBMERGED IN LAKE.

ACCORDING THE PILOT STATEMENT, HEADWIND AND WIND SHIFT CAUSE DISRUPTION OF THE LANDING ALIGNMENT.THE PILOT WENT ON TO SAY THAT IF SHE HAD TO DO OVER SHE WOULD MAKE THE DECISION TO GO AROUND EARLIER THAN SHE DID.

THE PILOT HAS OVER 600 HOURS IN THIS AIRCRAFT, THERE IS NO INDICATION THAT THIS OCCURRED DUE TO LACK OF COMPETENCE, AS A RESULT OF THIS INVESTIGATION.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ANC13CA096](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ANC13CA096), Sep 8, 2013: Piper PA 18-150 (N4483Z), Talkeetna, AK, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's delayed decision to go-around, which resulted in a collision with water.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
