## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

DURING APPROACH TO LANDING OFF AIRPORT IN GUSTING WIND CONDITIONS, N190SH EXPERIENCED A HARD LANDING AND ROLL OVER.

ACCORDING TO THE PILOT, THE WINDS WERE GUSTING AND SHIFTING DIRECTIONS. PRIOR TO GROUND CONTACT, THE ROTOR RPM DECAYED. THE PILOT STATED THAT THE ROTOR RPM WAS RECOVERED, AND A RUNNING LANDING WAS PERFORMED. THE AIRCRAFT ROLLED OVER WHEN THE LEFT SKID CONTACTED A DIRT BERM

OF THE FOUR OCCUPANTS, TWO REPORTED MINOR INJURIES. NO POST CRASH FIRE WAS REPORTED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR13CA424](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR13CA424), Sep 25, 2013: Robinson R44 - II (N190SH), Flagstaff, AZ, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain rotor rpm while landing in a gusty wind at a high density altitude.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
