## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON SEPTEMBER 29, 2013, AIRCRAFT N449QX, FLIGHT 2441, ENCOUNTERED SEVERE TURBULENCE WHILE DESCENDING TO LAND AT RENO NEVADA. THE FLIGHT CREW WAS AWARE THAT MODERATE TURBULENCE HAD BEEN REPORTED BELOW 12,000 FEET. ATC ASKED THE CREW TO BEGIN DESCENT EARLIER THAN EXPECTED, WHICH IMPACTED THE CAPTAIN?S ABILITY TO PROVIDE ADVANCE WARNING TO THE FLIGHT ATTENDANTS TO FINISH UP AND TAKE THEIR SEATS. SECURING THE CABIN WAS ALSO IMPEDED BY THE PASSENGER IN SEAT 11B WHO REFUSED TO FASTEN HIS SEAT BELT AFTER TWO REQUESTS. WHEN THE AIRCRAFT ENCOUNTERED THE TURBULENCE BOTH FLIGHT ATTENDANTS WERE TOSSED AROUND THE CABIN AND THE PASSENGER AT SEAT 11B WAS THROWN FROM HIS SEAT ONTO THE ARMREST OF SEAT 11D. PARAMEDICS WERE CALLED TO MEET THE AIRCRAFT AT THE GATE IN RENO. THREE PATIENTS WERE TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL; THE PASSENGERS FROM SEAT 11B AND 11D WERE TREATED AND RELEASED WITH MINOR INJURIES. ONE FLIGHT ATTENDANT WAS ADMITTED TO THE HOSPITAL WITH A FRACTURED ELBOW AND A BROKEN BONE IN HER BACK THAT REQUIRED SURGERY.
