## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ STATED THAT HE WAS GIVING INSTRUCTION TO ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^, A STUDENT PILOT WITH 2.5 HOURS OF FLIGHT EXPERIENCE. THEY HAD BEEN FLYING FOR ABOUT 45 MINUTES AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT. HE STATED THAT ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ WAS MANIPULATING ONLY THE CYCLIC. HOVERING WAS PERFORMED AT A 3-5 FOOT SKID HEIGHT. A PENDULAR MOTION DEVELOPED. THE RIGHT REAR SKID MADE CONTACT WITH THE ASPHALT, THE TAIL HIT THE GROUND AND THE HELICOPTER ROLLED ONTO ITS RIGHT SIDE. THE ENGINE STOPPED AS A RESULT OF THE ROTOR BLADES CONTACTING THE GROUND. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ EXITED THROUGH THE LEFT DOOR AND ASSISTED ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ OUT OF THE HELICOPTER.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN14CA017](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN14CA017), Oct 2, 2013: Robinson R22 - Beta (N554SA), Chicago, IL, substantial damage. Probable cause: The flight instructor's failure to take remedial action in a timely manner.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
