## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT OF N523Q STATED THAT WHILE ON THE PARKING RAMP, IMMEDIATELY UPON STARTING THE ENGINE WITHOUT FIRST SETTING THE PARK BRAKE, WITH THE CHOCKS REMOVED, THE ENGINE ACCELERATED TO A HIGH POWER SETTING, UNEXPLAINABLY. THE AIRPLANE THEN BEGAN MOVING ACROSS THE PARKING RAMP. THE PILOT STATED THAT HE WAS UNABLE TO CONTROL HIS ENGINE, OR THE MOVEMENT OF THE AIRPLANE, AND THAT HIS BRAKING WAS INSUFFICIENT. HE WAS UNSURE AS TO WHY HE COULD NOT CONTROL THE ENGINE OR THE AIRPLANE.

THE AIRPLANE THEN IMPACTED WITH A MOONEY AIRCRAFT, TIED DOWN DIRECTLY ACROSS FROM HIS PARKING POSITION. THE PROPELLER OF N523Q IMPACTED THE CENTER OF THE RIGHT WING OF N9328V, AT A HIGH POWER SETTING, BEGINNING WITH THE LEADING EDGE. ALSO, THE RIGHT WING OF N523Q IMPACTED WITH THE NOSE OF THE MOONEY, N9328V. THE ENGINE FINALLY CEASED ON IT'S OWN, DUE TO THE RESISTANCE FROM THE PROPELLER IMPACT WITH THE WING. UPON SUBSEQUENT INVESTIGATION, THE MIXTURE CONTROL WAS STILL IN THE FULL FORWARD/OPEN POSITION. THERE WAS SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE TO BOTH AIRCRAFT, AND AIRCRAFT PARTS WERE SPREAD IN A RADIUS OF APPROXIMATELY 150 FEET IN ALL DIRECTIONS. THERE WERE NO PERSONAL INJURIES REPORTED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
