## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON OCTOBER 28, 2013 AT APPROXIMATELY 1300 LOCAL TIME, THE PILOT OF N25DM, A LANCAIR 0-235, WAS FATALLY INJURED WHEN HE CRASHED INTO A HOME LOCATED AT ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE ACCIDENT PILOT DEPARTED MCMINNVILLE AT APPROXIMATELY 1145 LOCAL TIME FOR A LOCAL FLIGHT. LATER ON WHILE IN THE TRAFFIC PATTERN HE RADIOED ON THE UNICOM FREQUENCY THAT HE DID NOT HAVE A SAFE GEAR DOWN INDICATION AND REQUESTED SOMEONE OBSERVE HIS AIRCRAFT TO CONFIRM WHEELS DOWN.

AN FBO LINE SERVICE EMPLOYEE WITH A HAND-HELD RADIO CONFIRMED TO THE ACCIDENT PILOT THAT HIS LANDING GEAR APPEARED DOWN. A HELICOPTER FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR THAT WAS PRACTICING IN THE AIRPORT TRAFFIC PATTERN ALSO REPORTED TO THE ACCIDENT PILOT THAT HIS LANDING GEAR APPEARED TO BE DOWN.

THE ACCIDENT PILOT THEN STATED THAT HE WOULD PUT THE LANDING GEAR BACK UP AND TRY TO EXTEND THE LANDING GEAR MANUALLY TO REMEDY THE UNSAFE LANDING GEAR INDICATION.

THE AIRCRAFT WAS THEN OBSERVED TO DEPART THE MCMINNVILLE TRAFFIC PATTERN. A COUPLE OF GRUNTS WERE THEN HEARD ON THE UNICOM FREQUENCY AND THEN THERE WAS NO FURTHER COMMUNICATION WITH N25DM.

THE AIRCRAFT CRASHED INTO A HOME AT APPROXIMATELY 1300 LOCAL TIME FATALLY INJURING THE PILOT WHO WAS THE SOLE OCCUPANT OF THE AIRCRAFT. THE AIRCRAFT WAS DESTROYED IN THE CRASH. THERE WAS NO POST IMPACT FIRE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
