## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

INTENT OF TODAY WAS TO TAXI THE AIRPLANE TO THE RUN UP AREA TO WARM UP THE ENGINE AS HE DOES EVERY 6-8 WEEKS. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ DOES NOT HAVE A CURRENT FLIGHT REVIEW, SO HE DID NOT INTEND TO FLY TODAY. PULLED THE AIRPLANE OUT OF THE HANGAR, WITH THE TAIL TO THE HANGAR DOOR. PLACED HIS FEET ON THE RUDDER PEDALS. DOES NOT RECALL IF HE TESTED THE BRAKES AT THAT POINT. IT TOOK FIVE ATTEMPTS AT THE START. WHEN THE ENGINE STARTED, ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ SAID THAT THE SOUND WAS LOUDER THAN NORMAL, HOWEVER, NOT AS LOUD AS A RUN UP. THE AIRPLANE START ROLLING IMMEDIATELY STRAIGHT AHEAD AND HE APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THE PEDALS WENT RIGHT TO THE FLOOR. HE APPLIED FULL LEFT RUDDER. THE RIGHT WING STRUCK THE HANGER DOOR, THEN STRUCK THE STRUCTURAL VERTICAL BEAM OF THE HANGER AND THE AIRPLANE PIVOTED 90 DEGREES AND CAME TO REST WITH HALF THE ENGINE COWLING IN THE NEXT HANGER. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ THEN SHUTDOWN THE AIRPLANE AND EXITED.

## Other reports on N201KZ (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19880819055839I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19880819055839I), Aug 19, 1988: Mooney M20J (N201KZ), Romeoville, IL. Forced landing in a field when engine lost power. Found water contamination in fuel.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
