## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ RECEIVED PRE-FLIGHT INSTRUCTION AND PREPARATION FROM HIS INSTRUCTOR, ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^, AS WELL AS A DTC DUATS WEATHER BRIEING ON THE PROPOSED SOLO CROSS COUNTRY FLIGHT.

ORIGINALLY, THE ROUTE INCLUDED PAHOKEE )KPHK) BUT THAT AIRPORT WAS ELIMINATED BY THE FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR'S ASSESSMENT, DUE TO THE CROSSWIND COMPONENT ON PAHOKEE'S NORTH-SOUTH RUNWAY. PREVAILING WINDS WERE FROM THE EAST. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ STATED THAT HIS STUDENT ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ WAS SIGNED OFF FOR CROSSWINDS UP TO 8KTS.

THE ROUTE ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ TOOK WAS FROM VERO BEACH (KVRB) TO OKEECHOBEE (KOBE), TO AIRGLADES/CLEWISTON (2IS), TO KPHK AND BACK TO KVRB.

RUNWAY 13 WAS THE RUNWAY IN USE AT 2IS.

NO WEATHER IS RECORDED FOR 2IS AT THAT TIME, SINCE THE AIRPORT HAS ONLY AN AWOS.

^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ LANDED SUCCESSFULLY AT AIRGLADES, AND TAXIED BACK FOR DEPARTURE. ON THE TAKEOFF ROLL, WITH LEFT AILERON CROSSWIND CORRECTION, THE RIGHT WING ROSE FASTER THAN MR. ERDOGAN EXPECTED. HE THEN OVER-CORRECTED WITH RIGHT AILERON AND RIGHT RUDDER. THE AIRCRAFT WAS STILL ON THE RUNWAY AT THIS POINT AS ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ APPLIED BRAKES AND THE AIRCRAFT'S RIGHT WING HIT A 1000' MARKER SIGN NEAR THE RUNWAY. UPON LEAVING THE RUNWAY, THE RIGHT LANDING GEAR RIPPED OFF, AND THERE WAS DAMAGE TO THE RIGHT WING.

THE PILOT CUT THE MIXTURE AFTER COLLIDING WITH THE 1000' MARKER SIGN, SHUT OFF ALL ELECTRICAL SWITCHES AND EVACUATED THE AIRCRAFT AFTER IT CAME TO A STOP. THE PILOT WAS UNINJURED.

SUBSEQUENT MAINTENANCE EVALUATION DETERMINED THAT THE AIRCRAFT'S WING SPAR WAS DAMAGED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
