## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AIRCRAFT WAS ON AN IFR FLIGHT PLAN (FLT MRA636) FROM EDENTON, NC (EDE) TO RALEIGH, NC (RDU) WHEN THE PILOT EXPERIENCED ENGINE LOSS OF POWER RIGHT AFTER LEVELING AT CRUISE AT 6000 FT. PILOT REPORTED HEARING LOUD POP NOISE FOLLOWED BY SOUND OF ENGINE WINDING DOWN. PILOT WAS PREPAIRING TO TRY AN ENGINE RESTART WHEN HE SPOTTED THE TARBORO AIRPORT (ETC) BELOW HIM AT 2 MILES. PILOT DEAD-STICKED THE AIRCRAFT ONTO RUNWAY 9 WITH NO DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT AND NO INJURY TO HIMSELF. POST FLIGHT INSPECTION REVEALED SMALL DENTS ON THE EXHAUST DUCT AND DAMAGED AND MISSING BLADES TO THE ENGINE COMPRESSOR TURBINE DISK. ENGINE WILL BE ROUTED FOR TEARDOWN INSPECTION AT AN ENGINE OVERHAUL FACILITY.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
