## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE INSTRUCTOR AND STUDENT WERE ON A TRAINING FLIGHT WORKING ON AN ADDITIONAL AIRPLANE ASEL RATING. THE STUDENT IS A HELICOPTER PILOT AND WAS WORKING ON TRANSITIONING TO AIRPLANE. THE STUDENT WAS FLYING THE AIRCRAFT AND WAS APPROACHING AT A FASTER THAN NORMAL APPROACH SPEED AND TOUCHED DOWN APPROXIMATELY HALF WAY DOWN THE RUNWAY. THE INSTRUCTOR TOOK OVER THE CONTROLS AND MAINTAINED HEAVY BRAKING ACTION AFTER TOUCHDOWN UNTIL RUNNING OFF THE RUNWAY AND CONTACTING THE FENCE WITH THE NOSE CONE OF THE AIRPLANE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
