## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON 16 NOVEMBER 2013 AT APPROXIMATELY 14:00 THE STUDENT PILOT WAS PRACTICING TAKE-OFFS & LANDINGS IN PREPARATION FOR A SCHEDULED PRIVATE PILOT FLIGHT EXAM.

THE AIRCRAFT, N873EF, A CESSNA 172S MODEL AIRCRAFT RECEIVED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE FOLLOWING A NORMAL LANDING ON THE RUNWAY CENTERLINE, ACCORDING TO THE STUDENT PILOT. THE WEATHER HAD LIGHT SHOWERS JUST BEGINNING AND DURING THE ROLLOUT THE AIRPLANE VEERED TO THE LEFT AND COLLIDED WITH A RUNWAY SIGN.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA14CA106](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA14CA106), Nov 16, 2013: Cessna 172S (N873EF), St. Augustine, FL, substantial damage. Probable cause: The student pilot’s failure to maintain directional control during the landing roll with a crosswind.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
