## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ WAS FLYING A HOT AIR BALLOON N7090A AND COMING IN FOR A LANDING 4 MILES N.W. OF CANTON, SD AROUND 1605 CDT. PILOT TRIED TO LAND IN A FIELD AND HAD TO PICK UP AND MAKE A SECOND ATTEMPT PAST A GROVE OF TREES IN AN OPEN FIELD. HE DIDN?T SEE THE POWER LINES DURING HIS DECENT, THEN ENCOUNTERED A THERMAL & GUST OF WIND AND HIT THE POWER LINE. HE WAS HUNG UP UNTIL THE LINE SNAPPED AND FELL TO THE GROUND CAUSING MINOR DAMAGE, BENDING ONE OF THE BASKET UPRIGHTS. THE PILOT AND PASSENGER WALKED AWAY WITHOUT ANY INJURIES.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
