## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON NOVEMBER 30, 2013, AT APPROXIMATELY 1645, PILOT-IN-CHARGE(PIC) AND THREE PASSENGERS TOOK OFF FROM OLIVE BRANCH (OLV), MS AIRPORT. THE AIRCRAFT CLIMBED TO 6,000 FEET ALTITUDE, WHEN THE PIC FELT A STRONG VIBRATION, AND THE ENGINE MAKING A LOUD POPPING NOISE, THEN THE ENGINE ABRUPTLY STOPPED PRODUCING POWER. THE PIC NOTIFIED MEMPHIS DEPARTURE OF THE SITUATION, AND CONCLUDED THAT NONE OF THE AIRPORTS IN THE SURROUNDING AREA WAS AN OPTION TO LAND. THE PIC FOUND AN OPEN FIELD AND LANDED THE AIRCRAFT SAFELY. IT WAS LATER DISCOVERED THAT THE IDLER GEAR SUPPORT PIN HAD WORKED ITS WAY OUT OF THE ACCESSORY GEAR BOX(AGB). THIS CAUSED THE IDLER GEAR TO MIS-ALIGNED, CAUSING THE MAGNETOS NOT TO PROVIDE THE NECESSARY IGNITION FOR THE ENGINE TO SUSTAIN POWER. THE PIC DECLARED AN EMERGENCY AND LANDED THE AIRCRAFT IN AN OPEN FIELD. THERE WERE NO INJURIES.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
