## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON DECEMBER 1, 2013, AT APPROXIMATELY 10:30 CENTRAL STANDARD TIME, A 2009 SEAREY HOMESTEAD HOUSE EXPERIMENTAL AMPHIBIOUS AIRCRAFT, N205DH, SUSTAINED MINOR DAMAGE WHILE LANDING IN THE OHIO RIVER WITH THE LANDING GEAR EXTENDED. THIS HAPPENED APPROXIMATELY SEVEN AND ONE HALF MILES NORTH EAST OF OWENSBORO-DAVIESS COUNTY REGIONAL AIRPORT (OWB) LOCATED NEAR OWENSBORO, KENTUCKY.

THE PRIVATE PILOT OCCUPANT WAS NOT INJURED AND THERE WERE NO PASSENGERS ONBOARD. THE AIRPLANE^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^WAS BEING OPERATED UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF 14 CODE OF FEDERAL REGULATIONS PART 91 AS A PERSONAL FLIGHT. VISUAL METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS PREVAILED AND NO FLIGHT PLAN WAS FILED OR REQUIRED.

THE PILOT STATED HE WAS DOING TOUCH AND GOS WHEN THE INCIDENT HAPPENED. HE DOES NOT REMEMBER RUNNING THE CHECKLIST TO BE SURE THE GEAR WAS RETRACTED BEFORE THE WATER LANDING. ON MAKING THE WATER LANDING, THE NOSE DIPPED SEVERELY FORWARD AND THE FRONT PLEXIGLASS WINDOW WAS PENETRATED BY WATER AS THE AIRCRAFT STOPPED. HE SAID THE PLANE STAYED AFLOAT FOR ABOUT ANOTHER TWENTY MINUTES. HIS SPEED ON FINAL WAS ABOUT 45 TO 55 MPH. THE PILOT WAS RESCUED BY SOME FISHERMAN AND AIRCRAFT TOWED TO THE BANK OF THE RIVER.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
