## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

N65408 DEPARTED MASSEY AIR RANCH (X50) ON A MAINTENANCE FLIGHT FOR THE PURPOSE OF BREAKING IN NEWLY-OVERHAULED ENGINE CYLINDERS. THE PILOT STATED THAT HE FLIGHT-PLANNED FOR A FUEL FLOW OF 8 GPH, BASED ON WHAT HE THOUGHT WAS ADEQUATE FOR THE HIGH POWER SETTINGS PLANNED FOR THE FLIGHT. THE PILOT OF N65408 STATED THAT ON HIS RETURN TO X50, AFTER 2 HOURS AND 38 MINUTES ALOFT, HE LOST POWER AND MADE AN OFF-FIELD LANDING IN A COW PASTURE, RESULTING IN MINOR DAMAGE TO THE LEADING EDGES OF THE HORIZONTAL STABILIZERS FROM STRIKING A FENCE DURING THE APPROACH.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
