## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AIRCRAFT WAS IN FLIGHT FROM PARK RAPIDS, MN TO CHICAGO, IL AT AN ALTITUDE OF 19,000 FEET. CO-PILOT'S INNER HEATED WINDSHIELD CRACKED TO THE POINT THAT VISIBILITY WAS IMPAIRED. PILOT REQUESTED AN ALTITUDE OF 10,000, PUT ON HIS OXYGEN MASK AND STARTED DESCENT. AIRCRAFT PRESSURIZATION WAS MAINTAINED. AIRCRAFT LANDED AT EAU WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. WINDSHIELD HEAT WAS NOT ON AT THE TIME.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN14IA085](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN14IA085), Dec 11, 2013: Beech E90 (N60BA), Eau Claire, WI, incident, minor damage. Probable cause: The failure of the copilot’s windshield inner layer due to a peel chip that developed as a result of mechanical and thermal expansion stresses.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
