## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE AIRCRAFT DEPARTED SANTA MARIA AIRPORT AT APPROXIMATELY 1338 LOCAL AND DROPPED OFF RADAR AT APPROXIMATELY 1400 LOCAL AND BELIEVED TO HAVE CRASHED INTO THE OCEAN, NEAR PISMO BEACH, CA., UNDER UNKNOWN CONDITIONS AS IDENTIFIED BY PIECES OF THE AIRCRAFT FLOATING ON THE SURFACE OF THE WATER.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR14LA096](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR14LA096), Jan 14, 2014: Morrisey 2150 (N5102V), Pismo Beach, CA, destroyed, 2 fatal. Probable cause: The in-flight separation of a wing for reasons that could not be determined because the wreckage was not recovered from the ocean.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
