## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

TRAINING FLIGHT DEPARTED DAVID WAYNE HOOKS MEMORIAL AIRPORT (DWH) FOR A LOCAL FLIGHT TRAINING FLIGHT AT APPROXIMATELY 9:30 AM. STUDENT HOLDS PRIVATE PILOT CERTIFICATE ASEL AND WAS TRAINING FOR A MULTIENGINE RATING. ABOUT 40 MILES NW OF DWH?S AIRPORT THE FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR WAS DEMONSTRATING AN EMERGENCY DESCENT TO A SIMULATED EMERGENCY LANDING IN A FIELD WHEN THE AIRCRAFT STRUCK A GUY WIRE AT APPROXIMATELY 100 FEET AGL. THE FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR REPORTED HEARING THE STRIKE, AND THAT THE AIRCRAFT DID NOT JOLT FROM THE STRIKE, NOR DID THE ENGINE HESITATE.

DAMAGE WAS SUPERFICIAL, WITH TORN SHEET METAL TO THE UNDERSIDE OF THE LEFT COWLING, PAINT SCUFFING TO THE LEFT COWLING AND A NICK TO THE LEFT PROPELLER. THE NOSE SECTION HAS TEARS IN THE FIBERGLASS ON THE TOP SIDE NEAR THE COCKPIT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
