## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AIRCRAFT WAS ENROUTE FROM KCBF (COUNCIL BLUFFS, IA) TO KJEF (JEFFERSON CITY, MO). APPROXIMATELY 20 MILES FROM JEF, BOTH ENGINES LOST RPM AND MANIFOLD PRESURE. THE PILOT ELECTED TO SHUT DOWN AND FEATHER THE LEFT ENGINE AND ATTEMPTED TO DEVERT TO COU (COLUMBIA, MO). THE RIGHT ENGINE THEN LOST POWER AND THE AIRCRAFT COULD NOT MAINTAIN ALTITUDE. THE PILOT MADE A FORCED LANDING INTO A BEAN FIELD.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN14LA120](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN14LA120), Jan 23, 2014: Cessna 414A (N414CJ), Ashland, MO, substantial damage. Probable cause: The in-flight failure of both engines due to water contamination.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
