## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AIRCRAFT DEPARTED DAVENPORT, IA (DVN) ENROUTE TO WASHINGTON AIRPORT, WASHINGTON, IOWA (KAWG). DUE TO DETERIORATING WEATHER CONDITIONS THE PILOT IN COMMAND DIVERTED TO QUAD CITIES INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, MOLINE, ILLINOIS (MLI). WHILE ON APPROACH 2 MILES WEST OF MLI WITH A SPECIAL VISUAL FLIGHT RULE (SVFR) CLEARANCE INTO CLASS "C" AIRSPACE, THE ENGINE WAS AT 1800 RPM, UPON PULLING CARBURETOR HEAT THE ENGINE LOST POWER AND WOULD NOT RUN. THE PILOT REPORTED TO THE TOWER THE AIRCRAFT LOST POWER AND THEN LANDED IN A FIELD ONE MILE SHORT OF THE AIRPORT. LANDING IN THE FIELD THE AIRCRAFT HIT A SLIGHT RAVINE TEARING THE NOSE WHEEL FROM THE AIRCRAFT, THE AIRCRAFT BOUNCED UP AND CAME TO REST ON THE LOWER COWLING AND RIGHT WING. NO INJURIES OR FIRE OCCURED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong.
