## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON SATURDAY FEBRUARY 8, 2014 AT HARTFORD, WI PILOT DEPARTED RUNWAY 36. THE TAYLORCRAFT FITTED WITH SKIS WAS DEPARTING FROM A NON-PAVED PORTION OF THE RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFT HIT A SNOWBANK, WHICH ELEVATED THE PLANE INTO THE AIR, BUT WHEN THE PILOT TRIED TO LEVEL OUT, THE PLANE DROPPED DOWN AND HIT THE SNOWBANK ACROSS THE PAVED RUNWAY AREA AND THEN FLIPPED OVER ON IT BACK. THE PILOT AND PASSENGER WERE NOT INJURED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN14CA132](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN14CA132), Feb 8, 2014: Taylorcraft BC12 D (N43955), Hartford, WI, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's inadequate preflight planning and failure to inspect the runway before departure.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
