## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AIRCRAFT (N820AT) DEPARTED CHICAGO MIDWAY AIRPORT (KMDW) ON 02/21/2014. JUST AFTER TAKEOFF THE NOSE WHEEL STEERING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE LANDING GEAR FAILED TO RETRACT. THE FLIGHT CREW CONTACTED CHICAGO DEPARTURE AND REQUESTED A FLY BY TO VERIFY THE POSITION OF THE NOSE LANDING GEAR. THIS WAS ACCOMPLISHED BY THE GARY AIRPORT (KGYY) TOWER. THE TOWER CONTROLLER REPORTED THAT THE NOSE GEAR TIRE APPEARED TO BE 90 DEGREES OFF CENTER. AT THIS TIME THE CREW DECLARED AN EMERGENCY AND ELECTED TO GO TO CHICAGO O'HARE AIRPORT (KORD). THE AIRCRAFT MADE A SUCCESSFUL LANDING ON RUNWAY 28C. THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT OR INJURIES TO THE 6 PEOPLE ON BOARD.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
