## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

DURING CRUISE FLIGHT APPROXIMATELY ONE HOUR FROM KEWR A CABIN CREWMEMBER ON UNITED FLT 1618 PULLED A RACK OF GLASSES OUT OF A CART WHILE PREPARING FOR SERVICE AND DROPPED IT ON HER FOOT. MULTIPLE GLASSES SHATTERED AND SHE SUSTAINED A SEVERE CUT ON HER FOOT THAT BLED PROFUSELY. TURBULENCE WAS NOT A FACTOR, PER THE CREWMEMBER?S STATEMENT IT WAS A SIMPLE MISHAP. OTHER CABIN CREWMEMBERS ASSISTED HER AND MEDICAL ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED BY A PHYSICIAN ON BOARD. THE CAPTAIN WAS ADVISED OF THE INJURY; HE INQUIRED IF THE FLIGHT SHOULD BE DIVERTED BUT THE PHYSICIAN ADVISED IT WAS NOT NECESSARY SO THE DECISION WAS MADE TO CONTINUE TO KEWR. THE INJURED CREWMEMBER REQUIRED TREATMENT DURING THE REMAINDER OF THE FLIGHT BECAUSE HER FOOT WOULD NOT STOP BLEEDING. SHE WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL BY PARAMEDICS UPON ARRIVAL WHERE SHE WAS TREATED AND RELEASED.

SHE WAS DIAGNOSED ONE WEEK LATER WITH A SEVERED TENDON IN HER FOOT AND SUBSEQUENTLY REQUIRED SURGERY TO REATTACH THE TENDON AND INSERT A PIN. SHE IS NOW IN A CAST AND IS OFF WORK INDEFINITELY.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
