## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE FOLLOWING IS A STATEMENT BY THE A/C PIC

ON MY THIRD LOAD OF THE DAY AT 9:55 I CAME IN FROM THE SOUTH FROM THE FIELD I WAS APPLYING FERTILIZER AND DID A STRAIGHT IN APPROACH TO KENNY'S CROP DUSTING STRIP. THE WEATHER WAS CLEAR AND WIND AT ABOUT 5 KNOTS FROM THE EAST-SOUTHEAST INDICATED BY THE WINDSOCK AT THE END OF THE STRIP. UPON TOUCHDOWN IN A NORMAL 3 POINT ATTITUDE I HEARD A LOUD BANG (GEAR LEG BREAKING) FOLLOWED BY A SLIGHT ROLL AND YAW TO THE RIGHT. I ATTEMPTED TO RAISE THE WING AND CORRECT AS STRAIGHT AS I COULD FOR AS LONG AS I COULD BUT DUE TO THE INSUFFICIENT POWER OFF AIRSPEED THE PLANE CONTINUED SLOWLY TO THE RIGHT OFF THE EDGE OF THE STRIP WHERE THE ENGINE AND LOWER AIRFRAME CAME INTO CONTACT WITH THE DOWN SLOPED 4FT EMBANKMENT AT WHICH TIME THE PLANE DUG INTO THE SOFT DIRT AND THE PLANE FLIPPED ONTO ITS BACK. ONCE ALL MOTION HAD STOPPED I ENSURED FUEL AND POWER WAS OFF AND EXITED INVERTED THROUGH THE CANOPY. I HAD NO INJURIES AT ALL. HARNESS AND HELMET WAS ON.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

Probable cause: An undetected fatigue crack in the landing gear leg, which initiated at an electrical arc-induced damage site of undetermined origin and resulted in landing gear failure. Contributing to the severity…

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong.
