## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON MARCH 5, 2014, AIRCRAFT N9417Z, A CESSNA 172, DEPARTED ON AN IFR FLIGHT FROM MKL TO AGS. AT 10:33 AM, THE MKL TOWER RECEIVED AN EMERGENCY CALL FROM THE AIRCRAFT?S PILOT STATING THAT HE LOST OIL PRESSURE AFTER DEPARTURE AND WAS RETURNING TO THE AIRFIELD. THE AIRCRAFT WAS UNABLE TO RETURN TO THE AIRFIELD AND LANDED ON US HIGHWAY 70. AFTER LANDING, THE AIRCRAFT?S RIGHT WING CLIPPED ROADWAY SIGNS CAUSING SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE. THE RIGHT WING STRUT WAS BROKEN CAUSING THE WING TO COLLAPSE.

THE RIGHT VACUUM PUMP ADAPTER ASSEMBLY GASKET, PART NUMBER 68315, BETWEEN THE ADAPTER ASSEMBLY AND THE GEARBOX WAS LEAKING OIL CAUSING THE LOSS OF OIL PRESSURE. THE AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE LOGBOOK SHOWED THAT MARCH 4, 2014, THE RIGHT VACUUM PUMP WAS REMOVED AND REPLACED ALONG WITH A NEW SHAFT SEAL AND GASKET. THE GASKET MAY HAVE HAD A MANUFACTURING DEFECT OR BEEN OVER-TORQUED CAUSING AN OIL LEAK.
