## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE STUDENT PILOT WAS RETURNING FROM A LONG FIRST SOLO CROSS COUNTRY FLIGHT. THE STUDENT PILOT WAS ATTEMPING TO LAND AT THE KBKL AIRPORT. THE STUDENT PILOT ABORTED TWO LANDING ATTEMPTS. ON THE THIRD LANDING ATTEMPT, THE STUDENT PILOT BOUNCED THE AIRCRAFT AGAIN, ATTEMPTED TO GO AROUND, APPLIED FULL POWER TO THE AIRCRAFT. WHILE ON THE GROUND, THE AIRCRAFT TURNED TO THE LEFT, DEPARTED THE RUNWAY TO THE LEFT, PLOWED THROUGH SNOW, STRUCK A RUNWAY DISTANCE REMAINING SIGN, STRUCK A VEHICLE STOP SIGN, BOUNDED INTO ROCKS SNAPPING THE NOSE GEAR OFF AND CAME TO REST ABOUT 1200 FEET DOWN THE RUNWAY.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN14CA153](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN14CA153), Mar 6, 2014: Diamond Aircraft Ind DA 20 (N108WA), Cleveland, OH, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's improper flare and recovery from a bounced landing, which resulted in a loss of control and impact with terrain.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
