## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ WAS PILOT IN COMMAND OF THE PERSONALLY OWNED AIRPLANE, A FLIGHT DESIGN CTLS #N866RS ON MARCH 26 2014. HIS WIFE, ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ AND HE HAD DEPARTED THE FBO AT 4:28 PM FROM BARNWELL, SOUTH CAROLINA, KBNL, FOR A DAY VFR, NONSTOP FLIGHT TO PUNTA GORDA, FLORIDA. THEY ARRIVED AT KPGD AT 7:58 PM AND TAXIED THE AIRPLANE TOWARD THE EAA PARKING AREA. THERE WERE SEVERAL PEOPLE AND VEHICLES PRESENT NEARBY AND THE TEMPORARY TOWER HAD CLOSED FOR THE EVENING BY THIS TIME. UNSURE WHERE TO TIE DOWN OUR PLANE, THE PASSENGER SAID THAT SHE WOULD GET OUT TO ASK. THE PLANE WAS STOPPED ON THE RAMP PARKING AREA, BRAKES LOCKED ON, AND ENGINE AT IDLE, AVIONICS SHUTTING DOWN. AS SHE EXITED THE PLANE SHE STEPPED FORWARD AND HER JACKETED LEFT CHEST AREA WAS STRUCK BY THE BACK OF ONE FIBERGLASS PROPELLER BLADES. THE BLADE FRACTURED MID SPAN AND THE ENGINE STOPPED. THANKFULLY HER INJURIES WHERE ONLY MODERATE TO HEAVY BRUISING AND LIGHT ABRASIONS ON HER LEFT CHEST.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
