## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AT 08:15 AM CDT ON MARCH 28, 2014, APPROXIMATELY 2.5 MILES ESE OF REMY, OKLAHOMA AND .5 MILES NORTH WEST OF DORA, AR, A MAULE MX-7-180B, REGISTRATION NUMBER N10503, ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^THE PILOT-IN-COMMAND (PIC), WAS ENROUTE FROM FT. SMITH, AR, TO HARRISON, AR, OPERATING VMC UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF 14 CFR PART 91 ( NO FLIGHT PLAN), WHEN THE PIC DIVERTED TO THE PRIVATE AIRSTRIP TO PRACTICE GRASS LANDINGS. THE PIC MADE ONE LANDING WITHOUT INCIDENT PRIOR TO THE ACCIDENT. DURING THE SECOND LANDING ATTEMPT, THE PIC STATED THE AIRCRAFT BALLOONED AND THE PIC ADDED POWER TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE AIRCRAFT. UPON TOUCHDOWN AFTER THE BALLOONING, THE PIC REALIZED THE AIRCRAFT HAD TOO MUCH AIRSPEED TO BE ABLE TO STOP BEFORE HITTING A METAL AGRICULTURAL FENCE IN THE PATH OF THE AIRCRAFT AND BEGAN TO DO A GO-AROUND. THE AIRCRAFT DID NOT HAVE ENOUGH RUNWAY TO MAKE THE GO-AROUND. THE AIRCRAFT HIT THE METAL AGRICULTURAL FENCE AND FLIPPED OVER, CAUSING SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT. THE PIC EXITED THE AIRCRAFT WITHOUT INJURY.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN14CA181](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN14CA181), Mar 28, 2014: Maule MX 7-180B (N10503), Dora, AR, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's bounced landing and delayed decision to go around, which resulted in collision with a fence during the go around.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
