## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON APRIL 5, 2014 AT APPROXIMATELY 20:25 EASTERN STANDARD TIME , AN ULTRAMAGIC S-160 BALLOON N842RR, CAME IN CONTACT WITH POWER LINES ALONG PLEASANT STREET BETWEEN 13TH STREET AND 16TH STREET, WHILE DESCENDING TO LAND.

THE PILOT OCCUPANT AND SIX PASSENGERS WERE NOT INJURED. THE BALLOON IS OWNED BY MAYFIRST INC. AND WAS OPERATING UNDER THE PROVISION OF 14 CODE OF FEDERAL REGULATIONS PART 91. VISUAL METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS PREVAILED AND NO FLIGHT PLAN WAS FILED OR REQUIRED.

ON THE APPROACH TO A FIELD THE BALLOON WAS TOO LOW AND HEADING FOR POWER LINES. BOTH BURNERS WERE ENGAGED BUT THERE WAS NOT ENOUGH LIFT TO CLEAR THE POWER LINES. THE BALLOON CABLES CONTACTED THE POWER LINE, BREAKING THE FRONT CABLES, BOUNCED BACK OFF THE LINES THEN PROCEEDED UP AND OVER THE LINES, ONCE CLEARING THE LINES THE BALLOON WAS VENTED AND LANDED IN THE FIELD.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
