## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE ACCIDENT PILOT WAS ON A STUDENT SOLO CROSS COUNTRY FLIGHT. UPON LANDING AT HIS SECOND POINT OF ARRIVAL (LEE), HE APPARENTLY FLARED HIGHER THAN NORMAL, AND LANDED HARD ON THE MAIN LANDING GEAR, LEADING TO A BOUNCE, FOLLOWED BY A SECOND HARD LANDING ON ALL THREE LANDING GEAR. THE NOSE STRUT FAILED FROM THE IMPACT AND THE NOSE WHEEL/FORK ASSEMBLY BROKE OFF THE STRUT. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO A STOP ON THE MAINS AND THE NOSE. THE PROPELLER BLADES BOTH STRUCK THE RUNWAY, AND THERE APPEARS TO BE DAMAGE TO THE FIREWALL AREA.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA14CA197](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA14CA197), Apr 11, 2014: Cessna 162 (N7032E), Leesburg, FL, substantial damage. Probable cause: The student pilot's inadequate landing flare, which resulted in a hard landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
