## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AIRCRAFT DEPARTED I69. REACHED ALTITUDE OF 2100 FEET. ENGINE LOST COMPLETE POWER. AIRCRAFT LANDED ON GOLF COURSE FAIRWAY BUT HIT A SAND BUNKER ON ROLL OUT. INVESTIGATION REVEALED THE ROTOR ON THE DISTRIBUTOR FAILED. FOUND CONTACT TANG HAD LIBERATED FROM THE ROTOR WHICH WOULD NOT ALLOW ELECTRICAL CURRENT TO PASS FROM THE DISTRIBUTOR TO THE SPARK PLUG HARNESS'.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN14LA195](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN14LA195), Apr 12, 2014: Larsen Mark V (N87JL), Amelia, OH, substantial damage. Probable cause: The distributor failure, which resulted in a total loss of engine power during cruise climb.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
